Life orientation and skills training for young people

Life orientation and skills training is essential to youth upliftment initiatives. Acts2Change, in partnership with Kerus Global Education, world leaders in character education and life skills development curricula, has brought the It Takes Courage! programme to the schools and churches in Soshanguve and greater Tshwane area. Kerus 16-lesson youth curriculum and educator training program is designed to teach youth how to create a vision for their life, build healthy relationships, make wise choices and prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. It is based on more than a decade of Kerus' experience in over 50 nations and is designed to mobilize a community toward courageous actions that will radically improve the health of children and their families.

Approximately 800 000 learners in Africa (Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and South Africa) have been exposed to the programme.

"It takes courage to stand up for what you believe in. It takes courage to persevere, to achieve. You cannot be successful unless you have the courage to do what is right when it is really hard." Drs. Jennie Cerullo and Marcia Ball, co-founders, Kerus Global Education
